Child Nutrition
Dear Parents/Guardians:
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! The Central Community School System Child Nutrition staff is looking forward to serving your children nutritious and tasty meals that support their achievements in school and promote healthy life styles.
Our goal is to provide excellence in food quality and service that is safe, clean, and wholesome. Meals are to be appetizing, nutritionally adequate, and satisfying to all customers. We strive to offer meals that meet the latest federal and state regulations. Our menus are designed to ensure that students receive a balanced meal that meets the calorie and nutrient needs established in these regulations. We do offer popular items such as pizza, chicken nuggets, and tacos, but these items contain healthy grains, are lower in fat, and limit salt. The milk that is offered is either fat free or 1% instead of whole or reduced fat milk.
For the SY 2024-2025 we will be collecting Free and Reduced-Price Meal Applications. So be sure to complete one for your child or children. The application is a family application so only one is needed per household and all students, children, and family members are to be on one application. For your convenience, online applications are available at www.myschoolapps.com and will be available on July 15, 2024. Paper application will also be available.
Beginning in school year 2024-2025, students who qualify for reduced price meals by household size and income levels in the National School Lunch and Breakfast program will receive breakfast and lunch meals free of charge.
We also offer extra items for students to purchase. Students must first receive a meal to purchase an extra item. Extra items may be an extra milk, slice of pizza, hamburger, chips, ice cream, etc. Extra items fit into the USDA Smart Snack Guidelines. Charging for extra items is not allowed. Money must be in your child’s account to be able to purchase an extra item. For your convenience, you can deposit money into your child’s account by going to MySchoolBucks.com, set up an account for first time users, and use when needed. A $3.25 fee is charged per transaction.
We take pride in our school meals and hope that you will encourage your children to participate in eating breakfast and lunch served in their school.
