McClure Named Director of Advancement for Central Schools
Former Central High School athletic standout Tanna McClure has been named Director of Advancement for the Central Community School System to improve the system’s fundraising and endowment efforts, according to Superintendent Jason Fountain.
Fountain said the district created the new position to improve its alumni relations, program fundraising and public relations opportunities. McClure will work closely with key volunteers, coordinating external and internal marketing efforts and initiatives that support programs of the school system.
“The primary purpose of Mr. McClure’s job will be to promote the Central Community School System to former students, parents, grandparents, local businesses and the community at large to build a stronger foundation of support for our programs,” Fountain said. “It’s important that we put an emphasis on creating and supporting a culture of philanthropy that can sustain and strengthen our system.”
McClure will be responsible for the planning, management and implementation of the district’s fundraising initiatives, which will include annual giving efforts, major gifts and fundraising events. He will also work to engage volunteers in district efforts.
McClure formerly worked for Marucci’s Team Sales Division, where he helped the company grow into one of the world’s leading baseball manufacturers, which was purchased by Compass Diversified for $572 million.
While with Marucci, McClure helped to organize the Marucci World Series that brings nearly 150 teams from 17 states and three countries to Baton Rouge to compete. The series boasts a $12.4 million economic impact on Baton Rouge.
McClure also helped to start the local Pelican Baseball Club with his brother, Trey McClure, in 2017. The club currently has 19 teams based out of the Central Community.
McClure was a three-sport letterman in baseball, basketball and football at Central High School. He received a scholarship to play baseball at LSU for legendary Coach Skip Bertman. Later, he transferred to Delgado Community College and then received a scholarship to play for Southeastern Louisiana University.
McClure and his wife Kaley live in Central with their three children – Owen (11), Reece (10) and Camryn (3).
